It’s Lent. I’m eating like a 12th century nun. More on that later. All you need to know for now is that I haven’t had coffee in three days. But that’s all I’m going to say about it because not complaining is part of the joy/ magic/ etc. that Lent is made of (+ tears of frustration).
Thankfully, we live in a world of Sundays. This Sunday happens to be St. Valentine’s Day. I already recommended a book, and seeing as I’m feeling oh so chipper, I though I’d crank out a few Valentines that keep the true meaning of the day front and center. Y’all know St. Valentine was a martyr right? He’s not a figment of Hallmark’s imagination, nor did he spend his days handing out posies and Conversation Hearts. He was busy converting people, narrowly avoiding death and ministering to his flock. Let’s keep that in mind before we rush out and spend the hard-earned money we have left after tithing to the Church on trinkets and chocolate….that, sweet, sweet chocolate…. This St. Valentine’s Day, don’t spoil your significant other with material good; look after each other’s immortal souls.
Did you start Lent on the right foot? Got any big plans to celebrate good ol’ Saint Valentine? Write them down then link them up below. Don’t forget to include a link back to this post so your readers can find the rest of the Quick Takes. I look forward to reading your posts!
