Time to wrap up June! Half the year is already gone. Even with a sprinkling of easy days between the full ones, life is flying by and I can’t keep up on the blog or in my journal. Let’s hit the highlights! End of the School Year We reached the end of the school year…
Welcome to July! I hope everyone is enjoying a few extra days off. We’ve had a good couple of weeks celebrating with family and friends. Fulton turned 16 on the 28th. Tony’s parents were in town to celebrate. We had ravioli and ice cream cake and he got more Legos, War Hammer kits, and books….
While our family’s trip to Europe was the highlight of the summer, it wasn’t the only thing we did (even though it took months to blog all the details). We kept busy throughout July, and it’s only now that we’re coming up on the end of August, and a new school year, that I feel…
Lots has happened in the last month, but I’m only catching my breath now because Todd, our foster son, was placed with a family member last Monday. In New Jersey, reunification with the child’s parents is the top priority, but placement with a family member or close family friend is the next goal, so when…
PACKING, PACKING, PACKING! It’s all the fun of packing for camp, while also packing and planning for a 16 hour road trip. There’s also the constant worry that something will go horribly wrong and derail all my plans for the week. But how about a few Takes to keep me from fretting for a bit???…
Thanks for being patient! This week I’m coming to you across the web from the suburbs of Milwaukee, WI. I was determined to not forget Quick Takes two weeks in a row (even if I got behind)! Let’s bring you up to speed (and add some more memories to the ol’ blog for posterity’s sake)….
Since last Friday I have: 1. Saturday: Hosted our annual Nativity of St. John the Baptist party. It was a record turnout with 129 people, mostly children, and I think the warmest temperatures yet. 2. Sunday: Hosted a tenth birthday party for Fulton and some of his friends complete with a scavenger hunt, water gun…
And now we find ourselves at the end of June. 1. That means my next newsletter will be out this weekend (UPDATED: More likely, early this week. You still have time!). After several inquiries from this post, I’ll be including information, and a handy printable, to help you craft your own homeschool mission statement. I’ll…
I love four days weeks! I’m always forgetting what day it is, and therefore am pleasantly surprised when the weekend arrives “early”. But we managed to pack in quite a bit since the last Olympic sized takes so, here goes. 1. We had the best possible weather for our annual party to honor St. John…
Every year, since we purchased this house seven years ago, we’ve hosted a large party and invited pretty much everyone we know in the local area. Our first year here, it was a Michaelmas party, held close to September 29th (because Fulton had just been born and we moved in a month later at the…
So we’re home and life is picking right up where it left off. However, I’m continually surprised because I keep thinking it’s Monday. I’m making this post a double linky (if such a term exists.) Right before Fulton’s hospital stay, we hosted our annual Nativity of St. John the Baptist party. Some people open their…
